Mackenzie & Rob’s Intimate Beach Wedding in Cancún
Recently, I traveled to Mexico to photograph one of the sweetest intimate destination weddings ever. Mackenzie and Rob got married in Cancún on a perfectly sunny 80 degree day by the ocean, surrounded by a small group of their closest family and friends. Their wedding was the best little intimate wedding day filled with some serious love and all the tequila.
Mackenzie and Rob have the CRAZIEST story of how they met too! They met by fate when they were both vacationing in Las Vegas. Mackenzie and her mom were there to celebrate her graduation, and Rob was visiting for a friend’s wedding. They bumped into each other at a pool party and Rob immediately caught Mackenzie’s eye because was dressed to the nines in a cowboy style suit, complete with a big shiny belt buckle, cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat. Mackenzie and Rob hit it off right away and decided they had to keep in touch.
Rob is from Canada, and Mackenzie is from Iowa, so they dated long distance for a long time before Mackenzie decided to make the move to Canada! These two are definitely meant for each other - they’re both goofy, silly, and romantic all at the same time. Rob is a true Canadian cowboy, through and through, so you KNOW he brought back his cowboy outfit for their own wedding in Cancún.
On their wedding day, the sun was shining warmly on their 35 guests and there was a perfect breeze coming off the ocean. Their ceremony took place on a rooftop right next to the beach, so the crystal clear blue water was the backdrop for their vows. Mackenzie and Rob wanted to see each other for the first time as Mackenzie was walking down the aisle, so it was a super emotional moment and there were definitely many tears shed in their heartfelt ceremony. They exchanged vows and rings as their guests looked on, and the sky turned into a beautiful sunset right as they said ‘I do.”
After a celebratory champagne toast with their family and friends, we headed down to the beach for some alone time during blue hour, when the light is soft as the sunset fades away. Since Mackenzie and Rob hadn’t seen each other before their ceremony, this moment on the beach was the first time they had been alone together that entire day. I LOVED capturing all those emotional quiet moments and of course, all those “Just Married!!!” feels! After some portraits and plenty of snuggles, we headed back and ended the night with and intimate dinner and reception on the beach under the twinkly lights, surrounded by their favorite people.
