Wendi & Todd’s Tropical Hawaii Wedding at Royal Lahaina in Maui

Wendi and Todd met while working for the same company – despite being aware of each other at work for over a year, it wasn't until they were asked to take a new hire out to lunch that they finally met. They began talking daily for months before Todd finally asked Wendi out to dinner. After almost 4 years of dating, Todd proposed in their new home being built in Des Moines.

The morning of their wedding was absolutely gorgeous. The girls had their hair and makeup done by Simply Beauty Maui at their reception venue, the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui. Wendi wore a modern white Pronovias gown with lace shoulder detailing from Mishalé Bridal. Her tropical bouquet by Country Bouquets Maui featured king protea and orange garden roses that perfectly accented her dress. Todd looked sharp in his vibrant blue suit, which perfectly rounded out the couple's tropical color palette.

Before the ceremony, Wendi and Todd stood with their backs turned to one another under a 100-year-old, 40-foot-tall rubber tree with a 75-foot canopy. With their backs turned to each other, they read letters they had written for each other for their wedding day. When they turned toward each other for a first look, and held each other under the tree, it was such a beautiful, emotional moment, and their love for each other was so obvious.

Their intimate ceremony took place in the beautiful Maria Lanakila Catholic Church, filled with warm light and beautiful symbolic details. The high church ceilings were highlighted by the bright afternoon light and provided the perfect setting for the couple's vows.

After the ceremony, the Wendi and Todd and their guests headed back to the Royal Lahaina Resort for the reception on the Hale Piilani Lawn, which overlooks the ocean. The outdoor beach setting was the perfect place for the celebration, with tiki torches, palm trees, and twinkle lights swaying in the ocean breeze. The tropical floral arrangements of monstera leaves, pineapples, king protea, and bottle brush protea by Country Bouquets Maui added to the night’s ambiance.

The sunset over the ocean was absolutely breathtaking and provided the perfect backdrop for some fun couple's photos on the beach. When Wendi & Todd rejoined their guests after photos, their family and friends gave touching speeches that had everyone feeling the love. Royal Lahaina Resort served up fresh-made piña coladas, and the evening ended with everyone dancing under the crescent moon while Maui DJ Services played the best dancing songs.

It was truly a joy to be a part of Wendi & Todd’s special day and to witness their love for each other in one of my favorite places in the world! I can’t wait to be back in Hawaii soon!
