Katie & Carter’s Romantic Backyard Wedding in Des Moines

Katie & Carter got married on Saturday at her family’s private residence in Des Moines, and it was the most beautiful summer day. It started out overcast but cleared up into a sky full of sunshine, ending with a golden sunset over the Iowa countryside.

Katie wore a sleeveless white gown with elbow-length white gloves, a long veil with satin trim, and carried an all-white bouquet. Their ceremony took place in the shade under a pergola on the lawn, surrounded by a big wedding party made up of their closest friends.

The entire day was full of thoughtful, curated details that reflected who they are. One of my favorite parts of the day was watching how Carter looked at Katie. You can tell how deeply he loves and respects her for exactly who she is. I hope every single person gets to experience that kind of love.

They took portraits at golden hour while the sun set behind the fields, and the sky turned orange over the horizon. Later, they danced under twinkle lights with all their guests gathered around them on the warm evening. It was such a sweet and beautiful day to be part of.
