Deanna & Grant’s Modern Botanical Courtyard Wedding at PAIKKA in St. Paul
Although they came from different corners of the United States, Minnesota and Arizona, Deanna and Grant's relationship began with a simple swipe right on Hinge in March of 2020. They found each other in very uncertain times, where their first dates were confined to their homes, but they saw this as a blessing in disguise that allowed them to get to truly get to know each other since there was nothing else to do! When the world began to open back up and they started venturing out for their dates, Deanna confessed her love for Grant by just blurting it out a bar, but she had no regrets, and now they’re getting married and raising their sweet dog Korra together too!
On their wedding day, Deanna and her girls sipped mimosas and got ready in the Green Room at PAIKKA, a bright, light-filled private suite across from the courtyard where they’d say “I do” in just a few hours. Deanna was STUNNING in her sleek and minimalist, off-shoulder, Grace Loves Lace wedding dress. Her hair was styled in a modern low bun and she wore classic and dainty gold jewelry. Her bridesmaids, dressed in mix and match blush gowns from Petal & Pup, looked so elegant beside her. Grant and his groomsmen looked great in their fitted blue suits and colorful floral ties.
Deanna wanted to do a first look with her father, and it was so sweet. The two exchanged sentimental gifts and dropped some tears in a gorgeous and bright white space at PAIKKA with huge windows letting in tons of natural light. Then came the first look with Grant. They shared private vows in this gorgeous minimalist space, and we spent some time getting al the beautiful and classic bridal portraits of them before all of the festivities really began. Family and wedding party photos were taken in the red brick courtyard and Deanna and Grant did a quick walkthrough of their beautiful ceremony space before guests arrived.
Their ceremony was held in the Courtyard at PAIKKA, which is a perfect open air space strung with café lights and decorated with a retro neon arrow sign and potted tropical plants along the aisle. Guests gathered in this beautiful space for an emotional ceremony, and following Deanna & Grant’s vows, the newlyweds stole an extra, heartfelt kiss in the aisle, under a shower of tiny white dots of confetti. They snuck away with the wedding party to sign their marriage certificate with a champagne toast and lots of celebratory hugs in the Green Room.
As guests enjoyed mingling and sipped signature cocktails in the courtyard, Deanna and Grant did a walkthrough of the reception space in the Gold Room before any of the guests entered. The gorgeous decor was both whimsical and warm boho styles. The room, filled with natural light accented by soft glowing bistro lighting strung overhead, featured tropical plants and warm wood tables and chairs, decorated with soft cream fabric, white roses in bud vases and white taper candles on gold candlesticks.
As guests gathered for dinner, friends and family shared heartfelt toasts and speeches around the long banquet table. The couple's first dance was a highlight of the night, as everyone gathered around to watch. The dancing continued well into the evening, thanks to the great music curated by DJ Benny Nord. The couple even served late-night ice cream sandwiches to keep the fun going, which guests got to assemble themselves to their own liking. All in all, it was simply a gorgeous day at PAIKKA celebrating the love of these two sweethearts!
