Abby & Eileen’s Intimate LGBTQ+ Wedding at Gatherings in Nevada
Abby and Eileen's love story is a beautiful testament to the power of connection. They were both new to Des Moines and looking to make friends within the LGBTQ community when they swiped right on each other. A shared love of movies and a cheesy question about wine led to their first meeting. Abby invited Eileen to join her and her best friend for a movie night, and they agreed to meet as friends. Their first meeting was a bit nerve-wracking for Abby, who admits that her brain shut down the entire night. "I believe the only thing I said to her was, 'your makeup is really pretty,'" Abby recalls. Despite the awkwardness, Eileen agreed to hang out again, and soon they were inseparable.
Fast forward five years, and Abby and Eileen tied the knot in an intimate wedding at Gatherings in Nevada, IA. Their ceremony was a reflection of their love for each other, and the intimate group of family and friends added to the special moment. Abby and Eileen's dads walked them down the aisle, and the lovebirds said their vows and shared a first kiss in front of a gorgeous rustic red brick wall and hexagonal floral backdrop as their loved ones looked on and cried happy tears.
After the ceremony, Abby and Eileen took a shot with friends at a neighboring bar to celebrate tying the knot, and then the happy couple ventured out into the cute little downtown area for some sweet couples portraits before the reception. While they were taking photos, a sweet little ladybug landed on one of the bride's dresses, bringing a bit of luck and joy to their special day. In some cultures, ladybugs are seen as symbols of good luck, and it's believed that having a ladybug land on you is a sign of good things to come in the future. So, this little visitor was a charming and hopeful addition to Abby and Eileen's wedding day.
Their reception was an intimate celebration filled with love and laughter. Abby and Eileen spent the evening on the dance floor, surrounded by their closest family and friends. It was a beautiful celebration of their love and commitment!
