Nichole & Thomas Sunrise Couples Session at the Palais des Papes and Avignon Cathedral in Southern France

I was so excited when Nichole & Thomas agreed to a sunrise shoot in Avignon in southern France the day before their wedding. I loooove adding on a day before or day after session with my couples so they can take a moment to take it all in amidst the chaos of planning and family and friends and wedding activities.

We woke up super early, drove to this beautiful town, and met up before dawn so we could capture the first light of the day during their session. When the sun came up, golden rays of light beamed over the castle ruins. Nichole looked stunning in a sheer pink floral embroidered dress with long sleeves, adding a delicate and romantic feel to the morning. Thomas looked modern and sharp in his slate blue tailored suit. Their colorful outfits stood out beautifully against the white stone buildings of Avignon. We visited the Palais des Papes and Avignon Cathedral took some incredible photos in the massive empty courtyard, taking advantage of the dramatic architecture in the soft morning light (and the lack of people - one of the bes things about sunrise sessions is you often have beautiful locations all to yourself).

Before the end of their session, I put on some music and asked them to slow dance and Nic told me right then that it hit her like a brick wall that this was really happening, she was really getting married in France the next day. She dropped some happy tears and it was just such a special moment. This session in Avignon was a perfect lead-up to their wedding at Chateau de Torreau in Sarrians the next day.
