Nicole and Ben tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the spring, and a few months ago, they decided to throw a grander celebration at the Des Moines Botanical Garden so they could celebrate their wedding with family and friends, and I was thrilled when they asked the GTP team to capture their special day. Since 2020, I've seen a surge in short-term engagements and multi-day celebrations, and honestly I love them so much.

Nicole and Ben's event was all about celebrating their love with friends and family. They wanted us to focus on the fun details and candid moments - the heart and soul of any celebration.

The lush greenery of the Botanical Garden provided a stunning backdrop, and the decor was a vivid splash of summer – fuscia, pink, orange, and yellow. Wildflower did an exceptional job with the floral arrangements, featuring marigolds, roses, and painted baby's breath. Their single-tier cutting cake from Molly's Cupcakes was simple yet elegant, with thick, fluffy white frosting, topped with extra blooms from Wildflower. The bride's creativity shone through in the gorgeous invitations she designed herself!

Nicole and Ben's couple photos around the Botanical Gardens were summery and warm. We made sure to use lots of the great settings offered by the Botanical Gardens, taking photos in the Conservatory, with its tropical plants, and the outdoor gardens as well. But it wasn't just about them – family photos were equally important, capturing the warmth and closeness of their loved ones. As the Diamond Empire Band set the mood with live music, guests mingled and awaited the dinner prepared by Trellis Cafe.
