Sami & Guy’s Cliffside Oahu Elopement Overlooking the Ocean at Makapu’u Lookout

Sami & Guy eloped to Hawaii in the Spring. They said their vows amid gusts of warm ocean winds at the top of the ridge along Makapu’u Lookout near Waimanalo on Oahu.

Sami wore an amazing cream and pastel boho dress with an off the shoulder fringe by Dame & Maiden (a boho bridal designer based in Des Moines who specializes in hand-sewn, made-to-order gowns constructed of vintage lace), summery black sandals, and delicate gold and diamond jewelry from Artisan Jewelry Designs and Leona Ruby. Guy wore a modern beige suit and pink tie from Milroy’s Tuxedos, which perfectly complemented the subtle colors in Sami’s dress.

It was magical to have such an intimate ceremony while overlooking the crystal clear blue waters of the Pacific ocean, beautiful Makapu’u Beach, and in the distance, Manana and Kaohikaipu Islands. Saying your vows on a cliff with the ocean beneath you, the big blue sky above you, and your love standing right in front of you. THIS is heaven, right??

After their vows and some couples photos in front of this picturesque Hawaiian backdrop, we hiked back down Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail to a little secluded beach that was tucked just out of sight near Makapu’u Beach Park. When we made it down, there were only a few people there, swimming. Sami & Guy snuggled up together on the perfect white sands, and we finished our shoot exploring some nearby volcanic rock formations. It was a bit of a challenging hike down to this magical place, but it was worth the extra effort to have such a romantic and pristine beach almost entirely to ourselves.
