The Vukonich Family’s Pregnancy Announcement and Sunset Beach Family Session on Oahu’s North Shore
When the Vukoniches reached out to me for a family session on the beach on Laie, I was already so excited to work with them in this beautiful place, and then they told me the shoot would also be a very special pregnancy announcement! It’s always such a privilege to be let in on a secret before it’s revealed to the world, and I love doing these kinds of family sessions. 💙 As a mother of two myself, I always loved the time when no one else knows that you’re carrying a little life inside you. It’s this big secret that is so exciting and scary and intimate all in one, and I’m honored that a family would trust me with documenting this important time.
For their session, we met on the beach at Lāʻielohelohe Beach Park just before sunset, and watched the sun slowly sink down over the ocean. The bright blue waves crashed against the beach as mom and dad played and ran together in the sand in their beachy outfits - mom wore a soft, billowing dress with little embroidered flowers, and dad wore a classic beach look of khaki shorts and a button down. It took a moment for their little guy, dressed just like his dad, to warm up to photos, and it was so funny and cute when we tried to take a sweet photo of him holding momma’s sonogram and he simply threw it into the air, but I love that we captured all of his sweet emotions at this stage of life! By the end of the session, I was holding him so I could photograph mom and dad together, just the two of them, and he was snuggling into my shoulder! Such a sweetheart, and he’ll make a great big brother!
