Nichole & Thomas’ Downtown Engagement Session at Hello, Marjorie
Nicole & Tom wanted something modern and edgy with a city feel for their engagmenet session, so we headed to one of my favorite cocktail bars in Des Moines to sip some drinks during their session. 🍸 It’s always so important to me that my shoots feel like a reflection of my couples, and I thought this space would perfectly speak to their vibe as a couple.
We started with some moody (and a little bit steamy!) portraits at Hello, Marjorie – I’ve shot here so many times, and always LOVE this place, but I wanted to challenge myself to shoot in some areas of the bar that I’ve never really tried before, and wound up with SOOO many gems from this session! Before we wrapped up, I wanted to head to the top of a nearby parking garage with great views of the city because we had the most beautiful pastel sunset. We made it up in time for all the gorgeous colors and Nic & Thomas even popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate their upcoming wedding in France! I’m SO excited to be heading there with them in the Spring!
P.S. I did a mix of digital and film-inspired photos between my Canon R6 as well as the Fujifilm x100v and its great built-in film emulation recipes. Can you tell which ones are which? ☺️
