In April, I got to travel back to Oahu, Hawaii to capture one of THE MOST heartfelt weddings I’ve ever had the honor of witnessing. Brittney and Harry met in Nebraska, are living in Colorado, and have traveled to Hawaii so much that they decided to say “I do,” there, too. This intimate backyard garden wedding took place at Hale Koa Estate tucked back in the palm trees filled with lush floral and the most perfect setting for a special little destination wedding filled with close family and friends. This day was filled with SO many happy tears, a surprise photo bus, a lei ceremony for Brittney and Harry’s mothers, and ALL the dancing under twinkly lights. To say this was one of my favorite wedding days is probably and understatement, and if I could live it all over again, I would in a heartbeat!
We started the day with Brittney and Harry getting ready in separate spaces in Hale Koa (but seriously, check out the bathtub in Brittney’s room!!) and they decided to do a first look in the ceremony space. Seeing each other for the first time was so dang sweet. I LOVE first looks because it gives my couples some time to THEMSELVES, and they got to spend the rest of the day together instead of tip-toeing around to avoid each other.
I hid behind my camera dropping tears (like usual) throughout their entire ceremony and Harry’s vows hit me in ALL THE FEELS. He told Brittney that every single day with her had been his best day ever, from making hotdogs and mac and cheese for her because he had no money, to getting down on one knee and proposing in New York City, all the way to that very day because he was marrying her (goosebumps, right?)
We took some poolside photos before the reception started and you wouldn’t even believe that all the decor was DIY!! Brittney seriously did an amazing job and every table setting had the most perfect Hawaiian vibe. After speeches and an AMAZING dinner - classic Hawaiian food like pulled pork, purple potatoes, and finished with the most delish cake! - they danced the night away as husband and wife.
Go take a peek at one of my most favorite destination wedding days on Oahu, Hawaii. I couldn’t have dreamed up a better wedding day at Hale Koa Estate!
